at last!!! first sainsbury did it then they didnt now they probably do… i used to send used batteries back to duracell then did it at work as it was easier than asking for return bags to be sent… then i just threw them away because of lack of interest by supermarkets etc… now i’ll just recycle them again now there’s somewhere to drop ‘em… what a lo-o-o-ng wait!

I see your point David. The EU Directive has made this law, which means that although Tesco is dealing with this matter superbly, its bid to ‘join the scheme’ is a little misleading as…well..to state the obvious they dont really have a choice!

Is’nt this UK law which has come from the EU battery Directive which came into effect in the UK 1st February 2010 forcing all suppliers who sell more than 32kg of batteries to implement a recycling scheme.

Seen the drums in store for collecting the batteries, look good. Where do you get the fibre drums from? Do the batteries get sent for recycling in the drums>?
